Why College Basketball is the Sport to Watch?
Sports are such a wonderful form of entertainment. The hits, the passes, the scores, everything about sports is so exciting. But nothing is more exciting to me to watch than College Basketball.
David vs. Goliath. Schools that you may never
have thought that existed come out of nowhere to win games, and this isn't even
in the NCAA March Madness that I'm talking about. Here's a list of
early season upsets that have already taken place (and we aren't even to Xmas
either):
San Diego over UCLA | Oral Roberts over Arkansas | Alcorn St. over UTEP |
Austin Peay over Memphis | Prairie View A&M over Houston | Tennessee-Martin over St.Louis |
Alaska-Fairbanks (division 2) winning the Top of the World Classic over 7 Division 1 teams. | Louisiana-Lafayette over Mississippi State | Eastern Washington over San Diego State |
Idaho State over Oregon State | Montana State over Washington | Holy Cross over Boston College |
These are just examples as to why College Basketball is so great......anything can happen on any given day.
Another example of how exciting the sport can be came from Indianapolis Indiana last week, when Maryland and Indiana faced off in a rematch from last year's championship game. Both teams had comfortable leads in this game, but neither team gave in. The Indiana crowd was so pumped up throughout, hoping for some kind of revenge from losing last year's title game. Players were diving all over the floor, Freshmen were making big plays, Seniors were making big plays. In all, the game wasn't decided until Overtime, when Indiana beat Maryland. Some of these guys were may never be "STARS" in the NBA, like a Tom Coverdale from Indiana, or a Steve Blake from Maryland. But these kids gave it all, and it was only a non-conference game in December. Such passion is one of the big reasons why College Basketball is the sport to watch.
